Here I describe the steps I take to step up an instance for my bird application with AWS lightsail.
I firstly sign up to AWS and within AWS lightsail I create an instance. You are asked to select your region, image and blueprint. I set up a Linux image and LAMP blueprint. You then get to choose your plan and have the ability rename your instance.
AWS works with Bitnami to host websites. Bitnami helps to package installations for developers within cloud. If you visit the Bitnami site you will see a host of cloud base applications such as Wordpress, Drupal and LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) and many more.
Creating a static IP
I will need to create a static IP address to be able to point your domain name to the instance, as the public IP which is given when you create your new instance will change whenever your instance is rebooted.
In order to create a static ip, go the the networking tab and click on attach static IP. Then select your instance and click create static IP.
Point Domain Name to Static IP address
In order to link my domain name I went to the location where I purchased my domain name and within the DSN records, I added an A record pointing to my static IP address
